Bonds did not stay after the game to speak to reporters, but manager Bruce Bochy commented: “What a day he had, we’ve been trying to get this offense going and that’s what we needed.”

Well, now that it looks inevitable that Bonds will break the homerun record, current homerun king Hank Aaron has already stated that he will not be there to watch Barry break the record.  One would wonder how much media attention the record breaking homerun will receive. One would also wonder if the MLB would let Bonds’ alleged steroid usage over the years affect his spot atop the all-time homerun leaders list.  It seems the only group of people rooting for Bonds to break the record are his fans and the San Francisco Giants rooters. I’m sure almost any other group will be rooting for their fans to take the “Russ Springer” approach to Barry Bonds this year rather than pitching to him.
