Goose Gossage Elected To Hall Of Fame

Today Rich, “Goose,” Gossage was elected to the Baseball Hall Of Fame. Receiving 85.8 percent of the votes, Going over the required 75% of votes needed for entry into the hall of fame.
However, Gossage used his publicity to direct attention to the steroid era of baseball, and how it needs to be brought to light.
“I think that if you did do performance-enhancing drugs, you need to come clean and put an end to this,” Gossage said. “Just fess up.”
“Now we’ve got to figure out who’s telling the truth, and I think that some day we will know the truth,” Gossage added.
Over his career Gossage had 124 wins to go with 107 losses. He pitched a total 1089.3 innings, inked 310 saves, and had a 3.01 ERA. Gossage will best be remembered for founding the closer’s role, frequently entering the 9th inning for the Yankees after Ron Davis would pitch the 7th and 8th innings. Without Gossage, the road would not have been paved for Mariano Rivera, Rob Nenn, Esteban Yan, among others.
“It was go as hard as I could for as long as I could, and the jams that I came into were always so exciting,” Gossage said. “I felt the more difficult the situation, the better I was.”
