Love ‘em or hate ‘em, the New York Yankees move on
The American League Championship Series is set. The Los Angeles Angels will take on the New York Yankees. As half of the nation turns their collective support from the Minnesota Twins to the Angels, the other half will continue to battle against the opposition’s growing fan base as the playoffs roll on. The Yankees and their 103 regular season victories will welcome the Angels into New Yankee Stadium on Friday night for a weekend of “Bronx cheers”, if you will, and serenades by Frank Sinatra.
The Yankees versus anybody is like the classic battle between good versus evil… or evil versus good. They are arguably one of the most fan-polarizing teams in professional sports. What’s to like about a team that spends almost twice as much as the rest of the league in order to buy their way into the playoffs, stall games to put them near the four-hour mark on average, and basically beat their opponents with nothing more than their sense of entitlement.
This will be the third time that the Yankees play some variation of the “Angels” since 2000. In 2002, the Yankees met the Anaheim Angels in the ALDS, where the Angels dropped game one, but then won the next three in convincing fashion before eventually moving on to win the World Series. The two teams met again in 2005, the Angels under their new Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim title. The Yankees took game one again before being crushed in games two and three. They squeaked out a victory in game four, but the Angels clinched in game five, but weren’t lucky enough to move past the White Sox in the ALCS. This time, the Yankees take on the name-shortened “Los Angeles Angels” in their first best-of-seven of the new millennium. Perhaps an extra pair of games will give the Yankees an extra bit of luck.
Regardless of whom you are cheering for in this series, you know you’ll be cheering for somebody. There’s no such thing as a baseball fan who feels indifference when the Yankees are involved. So strap on your halos or your pinstripes. Whomever it is for, you can be sure it’s going to be one heck of a ride.

A clash of the titans, American League style. Going to this series between the Angels and the Yankees is like going to Maine - you will be greeted by a sign “Baseball the way it should be”.
Forget entitlement, this is enshrinement. Whoever survives this series will in all likehood be the World Series favorite to win it all. But baseball being what it is nothing is sure except for this one thing - the Angels versus Yankees will be a display of Baseball at it’s best. All the facets of the game will be showcased from power-hitting to power-pitching, running, stealing, big ball, little ball to just downright awesome baseball.
Open the gates to the arena and let the games begin!
