True Predictions: Jets, Patriots, Tony Romo, NFL in L.A.
Last week I went 3–2 with my predictions: The New York Jets have arrived early for both me and the New England Patriots. The Manning Brothers, Eli and Peyton, proved true to the pedigree with both leading great fourth quarter drives (I didn’t pick the New York Giants, but did pick the Indianapolis Colts) for the win.The Chicago Bears beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on a fourth quarter victory drive; I figured they’d want/need this one more. Yes, I predicted that the Baltimore Ravens would beat the San Diego Chargers. Gotta love Norv Turner’s decision-making. USC head coach Pete Carroll would love San Diego, wouldn’t he? And he’s seen the old Teflon take some hits at USC, right?
This weekend it’s the 2-0 San Francisco 49ers at the 2-0 Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings will put the upstart Niners back in their place. This one could get ugly for San Francisco.
New England will lose again… this time at home. The Atlanta Falcons (on the rise) will beat the Patriots (going downhill).
The Indy air-show will beat the Arizona Cardinals air-show. Larry Fitzgerald (and his brother) will continue to be upset at Kurt Warner.
The battle of the embattled QBs: Tony Romo vs. Jake Delhomme. Dallas Cowboys legends Troy Aikman and Tony Dorsett both ripped into Romo this past week, but this will provide the catalyst for a great performance from the QB. Jake should only be glad that there are no Carolina Panthers icons to bust his balls.
The Tennessee Titans (need to right the ship) will beat the Jets (heads still up in clouds over NE victory).
The Denver Broncos-Oakland Raiders game looks like a good match on paper. Oakland has received a lot of good press for being a different team this season. However, Denver will beat their third mediocre team this season and rise to a deceiving 3- 0.
The news out of southern California this week was that the NFL moved a bit closer to returning a franchise to Los Angeles (actually, it would be the City of Industry – 21 miles outside of L.A. and a population of about 800 - no, not a misprint). My guess is that the Jacksonville Jaguars will come west. So, maybe Pete Carroll takes over this team moving to his current backyard.
