First hand review of Toronto Raptors Season Opener 2009-2010
Most of the sports world focus rests in New York tonight, as the Yankees and Phillies kick off the World Series. I joined a packed house as the Toronto Raptors kicked off their season against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Some observations need to be made directly, and what follows are some overall impressions of the game, the teams, and the players, as well as some fantasy impact thrown in.

Cavaliers Advance To NBA Finals

On Saturday night the Cleveland Cavaliers advanced to the NBA finals with a resounding victory over the Detroit Pistons, 98-82. Cleveland rookie Daniel Gibson lead the way, scoring 31 points. Lebron James scored only 20 points, but grabbed 14 rebounds and had nine assists. Gibson attributed some of his game six success to King James himself.
“He told me he was going to make me something special,” Gibson said. “He told me to keep shooting, don’t hesitate. When a guy like that tells you that, you step to it with a lot of confidence and knock it down for him.”

Cavaliers and Spurs Draw First Blood

The Cleveland Cavaliers and the San Antonio Spurs each won the first game in their series on Sunday. The New Jersey Nets and the Phoenix Suns each lost. Each Series is now 1-0.

Cavaliers Take First Game of Series

The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Washington Wizards, 97-82, in their first playoff game this year to make the series 1-0. Larry Hughes had a breakout performance scoring 27 points, grabbing seven rebounds with one assist. Lebron James scored 23 points, with nine rebounds and seven assists. Although James proved his toughness today playing with a sprained left ankle.
