True Predictions: Jets, Patriots, Tony Romo, NFL in L.A.
Posted by Frank Nevarez Categories: Editorial, NFL
Last week I went 3–2 with my predictions: The New York Jets have arrived early for both me and the New England Patriots. The Manning Brothers, Eli and Peyton, proved true to the pedigree with both leading great fourth quarter drives (I didn’t pick the New York Giants, but did pick the Indianapolis Colts) for the win.The Chicago Bears beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on a fourth quarter victory drive; I figured they’d want/need this one more. Yes, I predicted that the Baltimore Ravens would beat the San Diego Chargers. Gotta love Norv Turner’s decision-making. USC head coach Pete Carroll would love San Diego, wouldn’t he? And he’s seen the old Teflon take some hits at USC, right?

NFL Preview: Arizona Cardinals

ARIZONA CARDINALS
2007 RECORD: 8-8
Overview: The most interesting yet challenging team to write about are the Arizona Cardinals. Led by head coach Ken Whisenhunt, every preseason the Cardinals look like a team that could compete for the divisional title. That has yet to happen. On paper, this offense looks stacked with a lot of talent, headed by quarterbacks Matt Leinert and the experienced veteran Kurt Warner, as well as freshly re-signed wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and (a disgruntled) Anquan Boldin, the offense looks like a powerhouse that its rivals need to take notice of. Unfortunately, they have yet to play to their potential on the offensive side of the ball, and for the last few seasons, have been rebuilding their defense. This preseason yet again, I am putting the Cardinals in contention for the NFC West crown.

Fantasy Football Drafts are in full swing now with only two weeks remaining until the season kicks off.
Here are my top 10 fantasy football recievers for 2006:
- Chad Johnson: You know he is going to have yet another big year as this offense will get better and better with Carson Palmer’s maturity.
- Steve Smith: He was huge last year, and is bound to catch more balls with a servicable number 2 reciever lining up on the other side.
- Larry Fitzgerald: He’s young and as long as Kurt Warner can stay upright, he is sure to get in the end zone upwards of 10 times.
- Marvin Harrison: I dont care if he’s getting up there in years, no one is more consistent. The Colts are going to be throwing even more this year.
- Tory Holt: The other Mr. Consistency. He’ll put up good to great numbers year in and year out.
- Terell Owens: He’d be worth the risk at this point in time. Drew Bledsoe is bound to have a career year with all of his options and if Terell gets fully healthy he is as good as anyone.
- Reggie Wayne: Another Colt? Peyton is going to spread it to both of these guys again this year.
- Randy Moss: He was the best once up a time. Now he is just above average.
- Chris Chambers: Again, this guys stats depend on his quarterback. It remains to be seen how much partying Dante will be doing on South Beach this fall.
- Santana Moss: he is flat out dangerous and should get plenty of single coverage this year.
