The Los Angeles Lakers are looking like a fantasy basketball team this year. Coach Phil Jackson has the ideal challenge of which star to play at what times. Beyond that, the NBA’s Pacific Division should be competitive in 2009-2010. Steve Nash and Amar’e Stoudemire hope to lead the Phoenix Suns back to the playoffs after a disappointing season in 2008-2009; the Los Angeles Clippers look like a playoff team on paper if they can stay healthy; the Golden State Warriors have plenty of talent, but no chemistry, defense or size; and the Sacramento Kings also hope its stars can stay healthy and the younger talent can continue to improve. Ring the bell, the fight for the Pacific Division is about to start.

Kobe Bryant Asks for Trade, Takes Back Words

Los Angeles Lakers star player Kobe Bryant has requested a trade from the team. Then he back-peddled from the request.
“I would like to be traded, yeah. Tough as it is to come to that conclusion, there’s no other alternative. It’s rough, man, but I don’t see how you can rebuild that trust. I just don’t know how you can move forward in that type of situation.”
He said this on an interview with ESPN radio. However, just three hours later in an interview with Lakers flagship station KLAC radio he made completely contradictory comments.

Cavaliers and Spurs Draw First Blood

The Cleveland Cavaliers and the San Antonio Spurs each won the first game in their series on Sunday. The New Jersey Nets and the Phoenix Suns each lost. Each Series is now 1-0.

Heat Eliminated From Playoffs

The reigning NBA Champions Miami Heat were eliminated from the playoffs Sunday. They were swept four games to none, being just the sixth team in NBA history to win a championship and be eliminated by a sweep the following season. The first team to be eliminated in such fashion in over a decade.
Bryant Redeems Himself, Scores 45

Kobe Bryant’s 39 point performance in game one of the Los Angeles Lakers-Phoenix Suns series was misleading, as he scored just once in the fourth quarter. However he’s again in good graces with Laker fans, scoring 45 points Thursday. He had the clutch factor as well, as at one point the Lakers were down by 17 points. He stepped into his own in the fourth quarter scoring 15 points.
Bryant Scores But Not When It Counts

The Phoenix Suns defeated the Los Angeles Lakers Sunday by the score of 95-87. Kobe Bryant scored 39 points in the game, but merely two points in the entire fourth quarter. In 34 minutes of action Suns guard Leonardo Barbosa scored 26 points, 19 of which he scored in the second half, carrying the Suns to a victory.

Dallas Mavericks Clinch Best Record In NBA

By defeating the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday, April 9th, the Dallas Mavericks clinched the best record in the NBA. With five games still to go in the regular season, Jerry Stackhouse and Dirk Nowitzki, the scoring leaders for the Mavs on Monday night have already been told not to go to the final five games. “I told them if I see them on the plane, I’ll fine them,” Dallas head coach Avery Johnson said.
