Ubaldo Jimenez Topping MLB Trade Talks

Posted by Adrien Griffin Categories: Athletes, MLB, Rumors,

Ubaldo JimenezTrade discussions are popping up all over the place with the MLB non-waiver trade deadline fast approaching, and one of the top names circling those discussions is that of Ubaldo Jimenez, the hard-throwing righty with the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies don’t look to be going anywhere this season and shopping Jimenez around may land them a few solid pieces toward a rebuild or at least a restructuring of the lineup for the next few years.

Another possible Rocktober as the Colorado Rockies surge

Posted by Adrien Griffin Categories: Athletes, MLB,

DescriptionThanks to a terrible past couple of weeks for the San Diego Padres, the San Francisco Giants have made the National League West pennant race one to keep an eye on. Don’t look now, but the Colorado Rockies have made yet another late-season surge and with a 10-game winning streak have made it a three-team show. There’s still some work to be done before we witness another “Rocktober,” but the fact that Colorado is making this kind of thing a habit is pretty interesting.

A pitchers duel unfolded at AT&T Park that ended with The Freak showing why he’s a two-time defending Cy Young Award winner.

Matt Garza continues the Year of the Pitcher with a no-hitter

Matt GarzaWhen the media dubbed 2010 “The Year of the Pitcher,” they weren’t kidding. Tampa Bay’s Matt Garza continued the spectacular season for hurlers on Monday night by throwing the fifth no-hitter of the year. Garza joined Ubaldo Jimenez and Edwin Jackson in mere no hitters, as well as Dallas Braden and Roy Halladay who have both been perfect this season. Throw in Armando Galarraga’s 28-out not-quite-perfect game and you have one heck of a season, and it’s still July.

Ubaldo Jimenez keeps on rolling and wins his 12th game

Ubaldo Jimenez

The Colorado Rockies’ Ubaldo Jimenez keeps on rolling.  He won his 12th game of the season against only one loss and still sports a spectacular 1.16 ERA.  The reason for “still” in the previous sentence is because coming into the game, Jimenez had a ridiculous 0.93 ERA.  However, Jimenez gave up three runs and an uncharacteristic five walks in six innings versus the visiting Toronto Blue Jays.  The three earned runs were the most Jimenez has given up in a game in 13 games.  Amazingly, Jimenez has received a decision in every contest he’s been in .  His only loss was a 2-0 defeat by the division rival, Los Angeles Dodgers on May 9, in which Jimenez only gave up one run in seven innings or work.  Regardless, Jimenez is the hottest pitcher going right now.
