New England Patriots QB Tom Brady succumbed to an injury yesterday during the Pats’ victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in the first quarter of the game when Chiefs S Bernard Pollard fell on Brady’s knee after a pass attempt. Reports have Brady tearing his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and could possibly be out for the season. What to do?

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
2007 RECORD: 16-0
Overview: As you can see above, the New England Patriots went undefeated during the regular season and they just missed out on another Super Bowl win thanks to Eli Manning playing like his brother Peyton, and David Tyree making one of the most amazing catches you’ll ever see. So, what should we expect from the Patriots after they came thisclose to a perfect complete season? Nothing less than more of the same in recent years - winning.

NFL Preview: New York Giants

NEW YORK GIANTS
2007 RECORD: 10-6
Overview: The New York Giants had the best postseason run in NFL history and possibly sports history last year. To win three straight road games in the playoffs and to then knock off the seemingly invincible New England Patriots in the Super Bowl was absolutely amazing. I don’t blame anyone for getting caught up in the Giants of the last four games, but let us not forget the Giants of the first 16 games. Be excited about Eli Manning, be excited about the duo at the running back position, but we must curb our enthusiasm for many other aspects of this team in 2008.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
2007 RECORD: 8-8
Overview: The past few seasons the Philadelphia Eagles have had some really tough losses and had to deal with some really tough issues. From the Terrell Owens fiasco, to Andy Reid’s off-the-field problems, to Donovan McNabb’s season-ending injury from two years ago, this team has been through a lot and survived. Despite not making the playoffs last year, the Eagles can point to one or two plays that would’ve put them in the playoffs. Look for the gods to smile on the Eagles in 2008, or at the very least, stop kicking them in the teeth.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
2007 RECORD: 11-5
Overview: The Jaguars of 2007 turned heads at the beginning of the season by getting rid of Byron Leftwich and making David Garrard the starter at QB. They turned heads again at the end of the season by winning a road-playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and giving the New England Patriots all they could handle. If any team is ready to take the next step, it is the Jaguars. Of course they have the Indianapolis Colts to deal with, but they have proven they can play with them… it is finally time to beat them.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
2007 RECORD: 13-3
Overview: Expect the Indianapolis Colts to continue to be the Indianapolis Colts. Which is to be a team that dominates the regular season and once in the playoffs . . . who knows?!? The roster for 2008 is almost identical to the 2007 roster which is good news for Indy fans. Peyton Manning hasn’t played in the preseason, but it isn’t going to matter. Marvin Harrison may be healthy or may not be, he may be going to jail or he may not be. It really doesn’t matter. The Colts offense dominated last year without him and while they would like to have a healthy Harrison, they will be fine without him.

What is the Super Bowl, anyway?

So, the Super Bowl happens in just a couple of days. Have you ever needed to explain to a child (or clueless non-football fan) what football is, and why the Super Bowl is so important? Our friend Ze gives it a shot…check out the video above. You may want to use this as your template for explaining the issue in the future - if you can be sure not to blink like he does. Hit us back with your thoughts in the comments.
