In recent seasons, we’ve seen Stanley Cup rosters disband (if not explode) during the summer months. The Pittsburgh Penguins lost a good handful of players after their run, while seemingly half of the Chicago Blackhawks roster was spread out among the league after they won. The Boston Bruins are looking to try the opposite, as most of the members of the 2011 Stanley Cup winners are back, which many think will give them the upper hand in their road to repeat.
In the aftermath of the city of Vancouver tearing itself apart, it’s easy to forget that the Boston Bruins are the newly-crowned Stanley Cup Champions. Tim Thomas performed admirably in net in securing his team the championship trophy as well as locking up the Conn Smythe Trophy himself as playoff MVP. By shutting out the opposition in the biggest game of his life, Thomas has secured himself as a fixture as both a Bruin and an American.
The Vancouver Canucks seem to have found their stride in the postseason. After winning the Presidents Trophy and being the regular season’s top-scoring team, they carried that momentum in taking the first three games against the Chicago Blackhawks in Round 1, but then stubbed their collective toe, almost blowing the series to the Hawks before winning Game 7. It took them six games to finish the Nashville Predators and five games to clinch against the San Jose Sharks, and now hold a 2-0 series lead against the Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup Final.
On the last day of May, the first game of the NBA Finals begins. In this edition of EndScore Report, DV and Chris break down the series and its important players such Dirk Nowitzki, LeBron James, Jason Kidd, Dwyane Wade, Jason Terry, and Chris Bosh. The duo make their predictions as to whom will win the NBA title and be crowned NBA champions, so LISTEN UP!
Winning the Stanley Cup can make a lot of good things happen for you. Your name gets inscribed on the championship trophy, you get to take that NHL hardware home with you to show off to family and friends, and you even get to travel to the White House to shake hands with the President. On Friday, the 2010 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks made their honorary visit to Washington, D.C. to do just that.
Chris and DV talk about the merits of a Tiki Barber comeback - the history with his former team, the New York Giants, as well as what he can bring to a team and to what degree his impact would be. Considering the title, we don't think much about Barber. Especially when you consider the straight hating Barber has spewed towards Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning. Don't be mad because you quit a year before the Giants won the Super Bowl, Tiki. Anyway you can DL the ESR here!
The Green Bay Packers defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 to win Super Bowl XLV. The Packers went into halftime with a 21-10 lead after the Steelers scored a touchdown just before the end of the second quarter. It looked like the Steelers had all of the momentum heading into the second half. However, despite outscoring the Packers after the half, the Steelers couldn't make enough of a comeback to win. If they had, they would have owned the record to come back from the biggest deficit (18 points) in the Super Bowl. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was the Super Bowl MVP after throwing for 304 yards and three touchdowns without any interceptions, but was also great all postseason, leading the sixth-seeded Packers through three rounds before taking the team to the promised land. Rodgers now has as many Super Bowl victories as former Packers QB Brett Favre, but in addition has something Favre doesn't - Rodgers has the Super Bowl MVP.

DV and Chris go deep into whether or not Jay Cutler was a punk and abandoned his team, the Chicago Bears during an important game against long-time rivals, the Green Bay Packers. It's for the Super Bowl, Cutler!

The Pittsburgh Steelers put up 24 quick points, heading into halftime versus the New York Jets with a 24-3 lead. However, the Steelers didn't score one point in the second-half, but the Jets only scored 16 more points, leaving the Steelers with a 24-19 AFC Conference championship victory, earning the right to play for yet another Super Bowl ring. Currently, the Steelers have the most NFL titles in history with six and could add another in two weeks should they defeat the Green Bay Packers.
